At Town Meeting Day in 2018, the towns of Barre, Berlin, Calais, East Montpelier, Marshfield, Middlesex, Montpelier, Northfield, Plainfield, Roxbury, Williamstown and Worcester voted to become part of Central Vermont Internet, an effort to bring high-speed internet to the area by 2020.
